Especially great if you are new to blowtorching

Especially great if you are new to blowtorching
I mainly bought this unit because I am a huge fan of Dave Arnold and believe in supporting people I respect. I’d love a spinzall since I love mixology but can’t justify the cost for just my home bar (if someone wants to gift me one, hit me in the DMs haha)The unit as a whole is well built, instructions are easy to read and understand and they clearly put a lot of effort in to ensuring that people read said instructions. There are some key items you need to do to ensure you get the best results and that the device will last you an extremely long time. The manual recommends using butane fuel but in my opinion that really comes down to the fact that butane canisters are heavier and have a wider base than my preferred gas, MAPP. I ended up buying an adapter for my MAPP can that creates a much wider base so there are no chances for tipping (see attached photo).I had been using a blowtorch to sear sous vide steaks in the house for a while because it creates drastically less smoke than pan searing. I find searing without the attachment to be much faster but requires more practice to get the distance and method down. The searzall, takes the guessing out of the equation but where you gain ease of use, you lose the speed with normal blowtorching. The searzall is also more forgiving, so if you are using it on more gentle items (shredded cheese, top of an egg or my favorite, marshmallows on an ice cream cone) the risk of scorching or ruining is drastically lowered.I am also a huge fan of the idea that it creates an “anybody can do it” situation so if you like cooking with friends or family, you can task them with blowtorching and not be too concerned about them destroying your meals. Blowtorching foods is great fun, makes you feel super cool and now everyone can do it. Well done.
